Our new study linking mitochondrial dynamics to DNA damage published in Developmental Cell

We aimed to better understand the relationship between mitochondrial dynamics and DNA damage, and surprisingly found that dysfunctional mitochondria more often undergo “minority MOMP” in response to sub-lethal stress. We were able to show that these dysfunctional mitochondria were usually fragmented away from the mitochondrial network, and had high levels of anti-apoptotic BCL-2 proteins and pro-apoptotic BAX on their membranes, rendering them more primed to undergo minority MOMP.
